The wilder, more expansive follow-up to Trio, recorded just a year later in 1968 with the great Jon Hiseman on drums. Pendulum takes Taylor’s modal piano explorations into freer, more progressive territory — still melodic, but looser, darker, and more daring. You can hear the edges fraying beautifully. It’s one of those British jazz records that got buried for years and only recently started getting the flowers it deserves.
