1968 and The Doors stretch out past the darker psych-blues of their first two records. This one’s got Hello, I Love You, Love Street and Five to One — proper classics — plus some stranger, spacier cuts that show them wandering into more experimental territory. Not quite as cohesive as Strange Days or the debut, but still a crucial slice of peak-era Doors. FFO: desert sunrises after a heavy night, organ riffs that never die, and Morrison crooning like a doomsday lounge singer.
