Prime-era British folk rock with medieval edges and harmonies so sharp they could slice through chainmail. This 1972 set has Gaudete on it, which somehow turned a 16th-century Latin carol into a surprise Top 20 hit. The whole record sits somewhere between pub singalong and Renaissance fair fever dream, and it absolutely works. FFO: Fairport Convention in a suit of armour, Pentangle with more pints, and trad folk that’s not afraid to get a bit weird.
