If you've never heard Yma Sumac before, you're in for quite a treat! Blessed with an extraordinarily wide vocal range of slightly over four octaves, she was able to sing notes in the low baritone register as well as notes above the range of an ordinary soprano. She was also able to sing in an eerie "double voice". A sensation in the 50's and early 60's, Ms. Sumac's profile had been on the wane for quite sometime before recording this album of compositions written and produced by the prolific easy-listening, exotica and soundtrack maven Les Baxter.
