Shoegaze but make it absolutely miserable. Nothing take the dreamy swirl of guitars and instead of floating off into the ether, they drag it straight down into the gutter with them. It’s heavy, hazy, and bleak in a way that makes you wonder if distortion pedals can actually be clinically depressed. Every track feels like the morning after when you’ve forgotten what exactly went wrong but you know it definitely did. Gorgeous stuff, though. FFO: My Bloody Valentine after three days awake, Deafheaven without the cardio, Slowdive in a fight with a bin lorry, and anyone who’s ever looked at the rain in Belfast and thought “aye, fair enough.”
