The most Roger Waters of all the Floyd albums. Essentially a sequel to The Wall, but darker, more political and stripped of most of the prog grandeur. It’s bitter, it’s bleak, and it’s basically Waters with the Floyd name behind him, delivering a requiem for war and disillusionment. Some fans swear by its raw power, others think it’s just Roger’s solo album in disguise - either way it’s a fascinating, heavy listen. FFO: The Wall without the stadium spectacle, Waters shaking his fist at the world, prog rock that’s more protest than pomp.
