Uk first press 1973. Record plays with a light crackle in places. Sleeve EX.
Another class slab of electric folk from ’73, this time leaning harder into the political edge of the old ballads. Title track comes from a Robert Burns poem raging at the Union of Scotland and England, delivered here with all the bite of a plugged-in folk band who sound like they’ve just discovered distortion pedals. Spirited, fiery and way more rocking than the phrase “traditional folk” usually suggests. FFO: protest songs in doublets, Fairport with more voltage, and medieval mischief set to a backbeat.
