Acid Jazz kicking off a new Jazz Sessions series and it starts with a good one. Steve White stepping out front for the first time as bandleader. Most people will know him as Paul Weller’s drummer from the Style Council and all those classic solo records but his jazz roots run deep. This leans right into that. Proper swinging trio stuff with a big nod to 60s hard bop and that cool slightly cinematic feel. There’s even a tidy little rethink of My Ever Changing Moods in there which is a nice touch.
