Back in 1998, Bring It On sounded like it came out of nowhere - swampy blues riffs, lo-fi charm, and three singers who all sounded like they’d been drinking whisky in different pubs. It won the Mercury Prize for good reason: part Beck-style collage, part basement jam, part pure British weirdness. Still one of the most inventive debuts of its era, and somehow still sounds fresh. Dusty, soulful, and very slightly stoned.
