Grant Green doing what Grant Green does best - Solid is a straight-up hard bop masterclass from 1964, with a ridiculous lineup: Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Bob Cranshaw, and Elvin Jones. It’s one of those sessions where everyone sounds locked in but still loose enough to stretch out. Green’s guitar tone is warm, sharp, and effortless as ever, weaving through modal runs and blues phrasing like he’s just chatting. Pure Blue Note gold, back on wax the way it should be.
