Big warm tenor tone and soulful swing from Stanley Turrentine, captured here with a killer band including Bennie Green and Tommy Turrentine. In Memory Of was recorded in 1964 but shelved for decades, finally getting the proper spotlight it deserves. It’s straight up hard bop joy, with Stanley’s mix of grit and sweetness front and center. The Tone Poet treatment makes it sound like you’re in the room.
