1977 and the title says it all. After a quiet few years Van came back with Dr. John producing, bringing a looser, funkier New Orleans feel to his Celtic soul thing. It’s not his most celebrated record, but it’s got a charm all its own — hazy grooves, warm horns, and Van sounding like he’s easing himself back into the light. FFO: Belfast soul on a Louisiana holiday, Dr. John cooking gumbo behind the desk, and Van taking a breather between masterpieces.
