Van in his full mystical jazz-folk era - the bit where he’s halfway between a soul preacher and a man arguing with a tree. Big sweeping arrangements, flutes, choirs, and that voice doing its wild elastic thing over the top. It’s indulgent, eccentric, and occasionally pure genius. Feels like he’s inviting you on a scenic drive round the Antrim coast and refusing to play anything under seven minutes.
