UK 1977 Repress, 'Moon Face' Labels. Record plays great with minor marks. Sleeve has heavier shelf wear.
1976 debut and straight out of the gate Petty sounded like a star. Tight, punchy rock ’n’ roll with just enough jangle and plenty of attitude. Breakdown and American Girl are the big hitters - the latter now basically an eternal anthem - but the whole record is lean, mean and bursting with hooks. Pure heartland rock before the genre even had a name. FFO: Byrds riffs with leather jackets, Springsteen if he’d moved south, and the sweet spot between punk energy and classic rock swagger.
