UK first press 1984.
Full Ocean Rain drama, strings swelling, guitars chiming, McCulloch sounding like he’s singing from the edge of a cliff in a very expensive coat. The Tidal Wave version just makes it bigger, more theatrical, more echo, more of that grand romantic tension they absolutely mastered in the mid 80s. It’s moody but not miserable, dramatic but never daft, proper widescreen post punk turned almost cinematic without losing the bite.
