A curious and rewarding detour in the Pat Metheny Group catalogue from 1985. Written for the political spy thriller of the same name, it blends Metheny’s lyrical jazz fusion with cinematic tension and atmospheric synth textures. Lyle Mays’ keyboards are all over it, shaping the mood as much as Metheny’s guitar, and the standout is the David Bowie collaboration This Is Not America, which became a hit single in its own right.
