Silky but gritty round the edges. Proper groove first, everything else after. Bass lines that just ooze, drums sitting slightly behind the beat like they’ve got nowhere else to be. Vocals smooth but never showy. It’s that early neo soul moment where it still felt raw and alive. Brown Sugar the track still ridiculous. Late night, lights low, don’t rush it music.
