US first press 1973. Records plays with a light crackle in places. Sleeve has some wear and an import snip.
Early solo Van from 1967, recorded right after Them but before Astral Weeks. The title track is a 10-minute blues dirge about sickness and death that’s as heavy as it sounds, delivered with raw vocals and a band that sounds like they’re sweating through every bar. The rest mixes R&B, soul, and garage energy, showing Van in transition from snarling frontman to mystical songwriter. Rough round the edges but fascinating. FFO: soul poured over broken glass, Dylan if he was from East Belfast, and blues that stares straight into the void.
