Released in 2002, The Richest Man in Babylon is peak Thievery Corporation — all dubby basslines, smoky downtempo grooves, and global fusion vibes. A political undercurrent runs through it (especially in the title track), but it's wrapped in hypnotic production that glides between reggae, bossa nova, Middle Eastern melodies, and loungey electronica. Guest vocalists like Notch, LouLou, and Sleepy Wonder weave in and out, adding texture and range. Still sounds like the ideal soundtrack for sipping something strong in a dimly lit bar in a warmer climate.
