UK first press 1983.
When moody Manchester met New York electro and decided to cause problems. Produced with Arthur Baker so the drums absolutely slap, synths fizz like faulty wiring, and Bernard sounds like he’s emotionally unavailable but still somehow on the dancefloor. Dark, mechanical, weirdly funky and miles ahead of half the stuff that copied it. If Blue Monday is the big one, this is the cooler, slightly unhinged cousin.
