Proper early days energy here from Studio One via Soul Jazz Records. This is ska before it got tidy. Fast, loose, sweaty and buzzing with excitement. Horn lines flying everywhere, rhythm sections barely holding on and that sense of everyone figuring it out in real time. You can hear American jazz and R and B influences colliding with something totally new. It sounds joyous, chaotic and alive in a way that later, slicker recordings never quite capture.
