Evans’ first record after losing bassist Scott LaFaro, and you can hear the sadness baked right into it. It’s slow, dreamy, almost weightless — the kind of jazz ballads that make you feel like you should be gazing out a rainy window holding a glass of something you can’t afford. Gorgeous but definitely not party music, unless your party is three people quietly ignoring each other.
