Ronnie James Dio in full mythic storyteller mode, riding Tony Iommi–level riffs and synth flourishes big enough to fill an arena. It’s gloriously over the top, dramatic as hell, and somehow still deadly serious about it. Put simply: metal as theatre, and Dio was Shakespeare with a mic. FFO: Rainbow, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, and anyone who’s ever thrown the horns without irony.
