Hard to believe this was their debut. Sounds like a band who’ve already been knocking about smoky rooms for twenty years. Bit crooked, bit arty, bit nervy in places. Proper New York guitar band energy but with enough odd bits to stop it sounding like another Strokes knock off. The singer sounds like he’s about to either start a fight or read you some poetry.
