Macca goes weird and it’s glorious. Recorded mostly alone at home, McCartney II is full of synth experiments, tape loops, and moments of pure oddball genius. One minute it’s the blissed-out groove of Coming Up, the next it’s Temporary Secretary - the sound of a Beatle discovering drum machines and losing the run of himself. Half pop brilliance, half stoned science project, and somehow it all works.
