Jalen Ngonda sounds like he accidentally walked out of 1967 with one of those ridiculous golden soul voices. Doctrine Of Love is pure Daptone magic. Big heart melting vocals, warm band behind him, strings and horns doing the right thing at the right moment. Proper old soul energy but it never feels like a pastiche. Just a very, very good singer doing his thing.
