2026 press.
Serious J Jazz heat. Originally a super rare 1988 private press on Mobys, this was Sachi Hayasaka’s debut and it does not ease you in gently. Part free jazz blowout, part post bop muscle, part heavy groove that locks in when it feels like it.
Her sax playing is bold and physical, proper presence to it, but the compositions are just as strong. It’s varied without sounding scattered, adventurous without disappearing up its own head. No wonder it sat nicely beside the heavy Mobys catalogue and the more open Tokyo players of the time.
BBE pulling another ridiculous one out of the archives here. Not polite. Not background. Proper statement record.
