Before the press photos, the tanks, and the chaos, there was Classics - a collection of early Aphex Twin tracks that basically invented half of electronic music as we know it. These were the 12"s that made people realise rave could be weird, beautiful, and slightly terrifying all at once. You get everything from euphoric acid workouts to eerie ambient techno, all dripping with that unmistakable Richard D. James mischief. Still sounds like the future, thirty years on.
