This is Halsey turning the drama up turning the budget up and deciding she’s making a full pop universe whether anyone asked or not. Big synths bigger choruses and a concept that commits hard and refuses to blink. It’s moody theatrical and unapologetically extra with hooks everywhere hiding under the gloom. You put it on thinking sequel album and end up realising half of these are absolute monsters. Pop music in widescreen with feelings doing laps. Messy ambitious and very enjoyable if you let it be what it is. Class. FFO Dark pop maximalism, concept albums with eyeliner, synth pop with bite, records that sound like a late night spiral but make it catchy
