1979 and Cale keeps it cool as ever. Laid-back grooves, smoky guitar lines, and that whisper-soft vocal delivery that somehow carries more weight than a shout. It’s country, blues, and Tulsa swing all melted into one mellow haze. Never showy, always smooth, and proof (again) that less really is more. FFO: Clapton wishing he wrote half of these, desert highways at dusk, and grooves that sneak up on you instead of knocking you over.
