Miles’ first record for Columbia, backed by Coltrane, Philly Joe, Red Garland and Paul Chambers - not a bad wee line-up. Brooding late-night vibes, smoky ballads, and that title track trumpet entrance that still makes hairs stand up. It’s basically the sound of cool bottled and sold in mono.
