Second album, title track still one of the sharpest punk-era singles going. The Stranglers had more sneer than most of their peers and a keyboard player who made everything sound half-menacing, half daft. Hooks, bile, and that big ugly bass tone that could knock your fillings out. FFO: Buzzcocks with less romance, Ian Dury in a bad mood, keyboards that sound like they’re plotting against you, and every mate who insists punk peaked in ’77.
